Teams: Colorado Buffaloes (Big 12) - 14 vs. BYU Cougars (PAC-12) - 36

Two second half touchdowns were not enough for the Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders led Colorado Buffaloes to overcome the strong performance of the Brigham Young University Cougars. This game was the twelth sellout crowd for the Alamo Bowl in its thirty two history. Attendance was 64,261 and eight million watched, the most in the Alamo Bowl's history.

This major American college football game has been in existence since 1993 and is played in the former home of the San Antonio Spurs, The Alamodome. Builders Square held the initial sponsorship from 1993 through 1998 then picked up by lighting giant Sylvania who held the sponsorship until 2001. Beginning in 2002, MasterCard took over sponsorship which lasted until 2005. The 2006 season passed with no sponsorship which was picked back up in 2007 by Oil Refinery giant Valero Energy.

In 2013, the 21st edition of the series, the University of Texas, who were a part of the 2012 match up, faced the Oregon Ducks. Oregon was selected after finishing their PAC-12 season with a 10-2 record and second overall conference finish. The Longhorns were selected out of the Big 12 after an 8-4 season and third place conference finish. After a slow start to the season, when the Longhorns hit their conference schedule, they reeled off six straight wins then finished the season 1-2.

The game itself was a little less exciting than the road the teams took to get there. An attendance of 65,918 and a 6.757 million viewers watched the Ducks thrash the Longhorns 30-7. Texas Head Coach Mack Brown stepped down after the game.

In 2012, Texas met the Ducks in-state rivals Oregon State Beavers with the Longhorns edging the Beavers 31-27 which attracted a crowd of 65,277 fans. This is prime opportunity for the Ducks to extract revenge for their state pride. The Ducks finished the season at 10-2 (7-2 in the PAC-12)

In 2010, the 14th ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys took on the University of Arizona in front of 57,593 fans. Oklahoma State took the game 36-10. Last season, the Baylor Bears defeated the Washington Huskies, 67-56 behind their Heisman trophy quarterback, Robert Griffin, III. The popularity of the Alamo Bowl has grown so much that it has produced eight of the 20 most-watched bowl games in ESPN history to include a 6.0 rating in 2006 for the game that featured the Texas Longhorns against the Iowa Hawkeyes making it the most-watched college football game in ESPN history with over 8.83 million viewers.

The Alamo Bowl is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) game that plays after the regular football season. This bowl game matches up the Big XII Conference's and the PAC-12 Conference's ranked number four teams against each other. The game is and has been held in San Antonio, Texas at the Alamodome every year near the end of the year.
