ALAMO BOWL 2009
The Big 12 announced in October that a new agreement has been reached for the participants of the Valero Alamo Bowl.
The Bowl Game will now pit the number 3 team in the Big 12 against the number 2 team in the Pacific 10 Conference (formally the Holiday Bowl’s gig). Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe said that an increase of about 33 percent in payouts was something of a surprise. “We’re excited about this,” Beebe said. “In this economy to be able to command those payouts shows the attractiveness of the teams in our conference.
“It’s hard to have that for a bowl we’ve worked with as long as we’ve worked with the Holiday Bowl,” Beebe said. “But the Alamo Bowl was able to get the commitment from their sponsors where they were able to attract those teams.”
Stay tuned as we find out who will be coming to San Antonio this January 2nd, 2010!
